Santa Ana Valley High School

Arts Academy

where the arts are academic

“The arts are not a frill. The arts are a response to our individuality and our nature, and help to shape our identity. What is there that can transcend deep difference and stubborn divisions? The arts. They have a wonderful universality. Art has the potential to unify. It can speak in many languages without a translator. The arts do not discriminate. The arts can lift us up.”

–Former Texas Congresswoman Barbara Jordan

Vision

To create equitable access to standards-based arts experiences that allow students to be challenged on an academic, social emotional, and cultural level.

To create a space where students freely explore the various strands of arts in a way that excites and sparks inquiry.

To instill the appreciation of process over product so that the artistic process can be transferred to skills and/or experiences outside of the arts classroom.

To impart Valley's vision of being strong, connected, and life-long learners.

What Does it Mean to Be in the Arts Academy?

You are focused on getting a well-rounded Arts education. You could focus on one area or you can explore a little of everything. This doesn't mean that you are specifically planning a career in the arts, we can help with that too. It means that the Arts are a passion of yours that you want to grow in. The choice is yours!
